The latest from the UK’s Premier League

FootballNews in brief
Rising star makes an impact
Algerian footballer Riyad Mahrez has been tipped to become one of Africa’s rising stars after making a huge impact in the English Premier League this season.

The Leicester City winger has come from almost nowhere to be one of the most talked about players in England, attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

He helped Leicester avoid relegation with some key goals last season and then started the new campaign on fire with a flurry of four goals in the opening two weeks. His performances prompted interest from giants such as Arsenal. But having signed a new four-year contract at ambitious Leicester it might take a huge offer to prise him away.

“I’m enjoying my football,” he said. “I really don’t know what has changed for me. I am more confident, particularly as I keep scoring. Every time I play in my home stadium I feel like I am flying!”
