TasteOur guide to where to party this season!

Restaurant reviews
The festive season is here and, whether you’re looking for a loud night out or a quieter dining experience for your group, Nairobi is certainly not short on sweet spots that can fulfill this need. Here are three to get you started:

1 Tokyo Japanese Restaurant
Give your party a zing by signing your family and friends up for karaoke at Tokyo. They have a vibrant private karaoke room available for booking throughout the week, for Ksh4000 for the first two hours and Ksh1500 for every additional hour until midnight. Dinner should be taken before using the room, and it goes without saying that Tokyo has amazing Japanese food, which includes some of the best sushi in Nairobi. You can enjoy these and their signature cocktails either indoors or out in their lovely, well-lit garden.

2 Ocean Basket
If you’re looking to impress, Ocean Basket’s ambience will do just that. Since its inception in South Africa in 1995, this franchise currently has over 189 outlets in more than 11 countries – from Dubai to Nigeria. You will love them for their seafood, particularly the mussels in lemon garlic sauce and garlic and feta prawns.

3 Carnivore
Carnivore has plenty of eating areas, inside and out, to accommodate groups of all sizes. This restaurant has perfected the Brazilian rodizio concept and is ideal if you’re looking to enjoy a selection of meat, including game that has been slowly roasted over charcoal before being carved at your table. They also have Kenyan dishes such as ugali and sukuma wiki for your group to catch up over. Throw in the dawa cocktail (fashioned after the Brazilian Caipirinha) and you’re in for quite the party!
