hr-thehubkaren-inside-piazza-night-duskOur guide to where to eat this season

‘Tis the season – for better or worse, the holiday season is here and we’re not one to shy away from a celebration. Instead of making a meal of present buying, why not plan your shopping around a leisurely lunch. Here’s our suggestions for two of Nairobi’s malls…

The Hub
This Karen mall opened up to hordes of people visiting every weekend. With dozens of eateries, new shops and activities, visiting The Hub mall can easily fill a day. The Hub is known for the square that the mall wraps around. In this square, kids are welcome to partake in activities such as hoverboarding or riding toy horses. The eateries at this mall range from sushi to steak, Afghani cuisine, Chinese cuisine and healthy salad bar options. Shop for everything from accessories to vacations and plenty in between! If you’re looking for a quick bite, grab some sushi from Ocean Basket or stop by Afghan House for warm, crispy baklava. If you’re there all day then treat yourself to tapas at Picazzo.

Village Market
The Village Market mall has been open since 1992 and has maintained a trendy, upbeat environment. The mall has over 150 outlets spanning fashion, food, electronics, home decor and more! Village Market is perhaps best known for its outdoor spaces with an al fresco food court, water fountains and a rooftop Maasai Market. When you need a break from shopping and a quick meal, step into the food court and enjoy authentic Italian pizza from Pomodoro or some South Asian cuisine from Ohcha Noodle Bar. Looking for a longer sit down meal? Try the fresh seafood from Tamambo or a leisurely Italian meal at Osteria.
