New restaurant reviews
Whether you’re visiting or just passing through Nairobi en route to a safari or beach escape there’s always somewhere new to try in the city. Here are two brand new establishments in Westlands that are worth a visit.
1 Juniper Social
The Juniper Social is a cosy space where one can curl up by the fireplace with a gin and something or sip at their legendary sangria out in the garden. The bar also offers a small, scrumptious lunch menu that is cognisant of vegan and gluten intolerant eaters. Try their Asian Salad of shaved vegetables, brown rice and tofu with peanut sauce.

2 Urban Eatery
Urban Eatery has been described as a trendy gourmet food gallery. It is a chic yet still casual open dining space with a focus on crisp, contemporary design. Enjoy delicious, high-quality food from local and international food brands and establishments. Its look, location and culinary variety make it a great place for a quick workday lunch, meeting, or catch-up with friends and family.

Did you know… Irish stout
Stout beer originally got its name from the term stout referring to the strength of the brew and not its dark colour (many Irish stouts are actually now light in colour). It was not until the early 20th century that the method of roasting barley during the brewing process came about. It is through this roasting that stouts get their smoky flavour. Visit Brew Bistro & Lounge on Ngong Road, Nairobi and try the Big Five Breweries’ Temstout, a local version of the traditional brew with hints of coffee and dark chocolate.
17 March is St Patrick’s Day
We wish a very happy St Patrick’s Day to those celebrating this month.
