KQ Cargo wins African Cargo Airline of the Year Award, providing the freight division with continued recognition for its excellent service
Kenya Airways Cargo has won the title of African Cargo Airline of the Year for the second
time running at the esteemed Air Cargo Africa awards, cementing the airline’s position as a leading player in the industry.
The award was presented at a glittering ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, attended by key players in the air cargo industry. Winners are chosen by the worldwide readers of the STAT Trade Times, a monthly India-based aviation and air cargo publication, who nominate their preferred carrier through online voting. The airline was voted by readers ahead of continental rivals South African Air Cargo to win the prestigious award, demonstrating its commitment to fulfilling its claim to be the ‘Pride of Africa’.
“Receiving this prestigious award is a great honour and a powerful endorsement by our customers of the airline’s focus and dedication to providing the highest levels of service,” said Dick Murianki, General Manager, KQ Cargo. “It sets us apart in the increasingly competitive African region and confirms that we are on the right track.”
The freight division, whose mandate is to transport all forms of cargo across the Kenya Airways network, operates in 19 countries across three continents and has two dedicated freighter services.
African cargo services grew by approximately 6.1 per cent last year, ahead of Asia/Pacific and Europe, according to www.aircargoworld.com, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicts continued growth across the world in 2015.
The African continent remains key for KQ Cargo, with its huge trading potential, but it is also looking to grow into the Asian market. The airline’s new route to Hanoi in Vietnam is expected to boost cargo traffic, as KQ becomes the first African airline to connect Africa to the Asian tiger nation. This new route into Hanoi will form a trading line with the country’s growing electronic and textile trades.
With its continually growing network and fleet expansion, KQ Cargo is set to offer enhanced levels of connectivity, flexibility and reliability to its cargo customers across Africa.
